What each shortlist concludes

Each shortlist ends with a concrete finding, usually about a free plan ceiling or an entry price rather than about features. Every figure below is the same figure published on the linked page, and each of those pages carries the date its prices were last checked.

The tools picked in each shortlist and the published fact that decides the choice.
ShortlistThe picksThe fact that decides it
AI product description generatorsCopy.ai · Jasper · WritesonicAll three have dropped their free plans, and all three publish their entry price on both billing bases — Copy.ai $29/mo billed monthly or $24/mo billed yearly, Jasper $69 monthly or $59/mo billed yearly, and Writesonic $99/mo billed monthly or $79/mo billed annually. Only two of the three publish a free trial, so the trial is the only way to test any of them before paying.
Etsy SEO toolseRank · Sale Samurai · MarmaleadOnly eRank's free plan signup completes. Sale Samurai's advertised free plan redirects back to its pricing page, and Marmalead has no free plan at all — it sells a $300 lifetime licence instead.
Shopify review appsJudge.me · Loox · YotpoJudge.me is $15 a month flat at any order volume. Loox reaches $299.99 a month. Yotpo climbs band by band instead: $15 at 51–99 orders, $24 at 100–199, $59 at 200–299 and $89 at 300–599, so its pricing card's single $89 figure overstates the entry cost by six times.
Email marketing tools for ShopifyKlaviyo · Omnisend · MailchimpAll three give 250 contacts and 500 sends a month free. Only Mailchimp's free plan excludes marketing automation flows, so the free tier is not equivalent across the three.
Amazon product research toolsJungle Scout · Helium 10 · SellerAmp SASHelium 10 publishes a permanent free plan, but not on its pricing page — the plan table lists three paid tiers, and the free plan's per-tool limits appear only in a vendor blog post. Only SellerAmp publishes a free trial, 14 days on every plan, though its signup route asks for a billing address and card details; Jungle Scout's 7 days is a money-back guarantee, so you pay first and claim a refund. Entry prices run from $19.95/mo (SellerAmp) to $99/mo billed annually (Helium 10 Platinum).
WooCommerce SEO pluginsYoast WooCommerce SEO · All in One SEO · SEOPress PROOnly one of the three publishes a renewal price: SEOPress PRO is $49 a year and its page states you renew at the same price every year. All in One SEO's $49.50 is introductory — the page states all renewals are at full price, with Basic renewing at $99 — and Yoast's WooCommerce product is $178.80 a year, $60 more than Yoast SEO Premium alone.
Shopify SEO appsTinySEO · Yoast SEO for Shopify · SearchPieTwo of the three entry prices do not buy the job: TinySEO's $14 Beginner plan is not ticked for editing SEO metadata, and SearchPie's $0 Starter tier reports on metadata rather than letting you customise it. The lowest paid figure anywhere is TinySEO's Yearly plan at $8/mo billed every 12 months.

Start with the task you need to solve, then use each guide to compare realistic software options by use case, platform fit, features, pricing, and limitations.

How to Choose

Three checks that change the decision

The best ecommerce software is not the biggest platform or the tool with the longest feature list. In practice three checks settle most shortlists, and each of them is about a number you can read on the vendor's own page.

Check the free plan ceiling, not just its existence

A free plan's real limit is usually a volume, not a feature. Judge.me's is uncapped by order volume while Loox's stops at 500 orders a month. eRank's free plan covers one shop with up to 50 listings, so a growing catalogue outgrows it before it runs out of daily lookups.

Price the tool at your own volume

Judge.me costs $15 a month whether you do 50 orders or 5,000. Loox reaches $299.99 a month and Yotpo starts at $89 and rises with monthly order volume. The same store can pay very different amounts for the same job.

Check what the tiers actually change

On eRank the tiers change daily lookup and audit caps. On Sale Samurai every feature is on every tier and only the volume changes; on Marmalead the tiers change the billing period rather than the features. That makes the cheap tier a real option rather than a demo.

FAQ

Best ecommerce tools FAQ

Do any of these tools still have a free plan?

Some do, and the pattern is worth knowing before you shortlist. All three AI product description generators have dropped their free plans, so the cheapest way in there is $29 a month. Among the Etsy SEO tools only eRank's free signup completes — Sale Samurai's advertised free plan redirects back to its pricing page, and Marmalead has no free plan at all. The three Amazon product research tools publish no free plan between them, and only SellerAmp publishes a free trial. On the email side, Klaviyo, Omnisend and Mailchimp all still give 250 contacts and 500 sends a month free, but only Mailchimp's excludes marketing automation flows.

Why is the cheapest tool often not the best pick?

Because the cheapest entry price and the cheapest cost at your volume are different numbers. Judge.me is $15 a month flat at any order volume, while Loox starts at $49.99 and reaches $299.99 as orders grow. eRank's $5.99 plan is the cheapest subscription on this site, but it carries a 50-listing catalogue cap that a growing Etsy shop will outgrow.

How many tools should I compare before choosing?

Three is usually enough, which is what each shortlist covers. Beyond three, the extra tool rarely changes the decision. What changes it is checking three things: the free plan ceiling, the price at your own order volume, and whether the vendor sells a one-off option so the cost can stop.

Where do the prices in these lists come from?

From the vendors' own pricing pages, help centres and FAQs. Figures recycled from third-party review sites are not used, and where a vendor's own pages disagree the list says so rather than picking a number. Each tool page carries the date its prices were last checked.
