Privacy Policy

Last updated: 29 September 2026

This policy explains what Store Tool Guide ("we", "us") does with information when you visit storetoolguide.com. It covers the cookies and third-party services the site uses, including the advertising and affiliate systems that pay for it. If you have a question about anything here, write to [email protected].

What we collect

This is a reading site. There are no user accounts, no newsletter sign-up, no comment system, and no form that asks you to submit anything. We do not ask for or store ecommerce account credentials, payment details, or private store data.

We receive aggregate, non-identifying traffic statistics from our hosting and search providers, such as page views, referring sites, country, device type, and which pages were viewed. These statistics are reported to us as totals and cannot be used by us to identify an individual visitor. We do not build our own visitor profiles and we do not attempt to link browsing activity on this site to a named person.

Cookies

A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser. This site itself does not require cookies to work. Cookies that end up in your browser when you visit are placed by third-party services described in the sections below — advertising and, when you click an outbound merchant link, affiliate tracking.

You can block or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Blocking cookies does not stop you reading anything on this site. Blocking them may, however, mean an affiliate does not record a click that originated here.

Advertising, and the Google AdSense disclosure

This site is supported by advertising. We use Google AdSense to display ads. In line with Google's own requirements, we state the following explicitly:

Opting out of personalised advertising does not remove ads. It means the ads you see are no longer selected on the basis of your previous browsing. Google's own explanation of how it uses information from sites that use its services is published at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

Consent in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland

If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, advertising and any non-essential cookies are served only with your consent, collected through a Google-certified consent management platform. You can change or withdraw that choice at any time by reopening the consent notice, and withdrawing consent does not affect your ability to read the site.

Where consent applies, we rely on it as our legal basis for advertising cookies. Elsewhere, we rely on our legitimate interest in funding the site through advertising.

Affiliate links

Some outbound links to software vendors are affiliate links. If you click one and later buy a subscription, the vendor may pay us a commission. This does not change the price you pay.

When you click an affiliate link, the merchant or its affiliate network may set a cookie in your browser so that a later purchase is attributed to this site. That cookie is set and read by the merchant or the network, not by us, and we never see your name, your order, or your payment details — we only receive aggregate reports such as a count of clicks and sales. How each vendor handles that data is governed by its own privacy policy. The full explanation of how affiliate links work on this site is on the affiliate disclosure page.

Links to other sites

Articles on this site link to vendor websites, documentation, and pricing pages. Once you follow a link away from this site, that site operates under its own privacy policy and terms, and we have no control over what it collects.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to personal data held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information as those terms are defined under California law. We do not sell personal information.

Because we do not hold visitor-level data ourselves, most requests of this kind are best directed to the third party that actually set the cookie — Google, or the relevant affiliate network. If you are not sure who to contact, write to us at the address below and we will tell you which service is involved so you can approach it directly.

Children

This site is written for adults running or researching an online store. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from children.

Data retention and security

Aggregate traffic statistics are retained by our providers for their standard reporting windows. We do not operate a database of visitor records, so there is no visitor record held by us to delete. The site is served over HTTPS.

Changes to this policy

If we add or remove a service that changes what is described here, this page will be updated and the date at the top will change. Continuing to use the site after an update means you accept the current version.
