What each comparison actually turns on

Most of these pairs are not close calls once the published numbers are side by side. The middle column is the difference that decides each one. Every figure below is the same figure published on the linked page, and each of those pages carries the date its prices were last checked.

How to Compare

The three pricing shapes you will meet here

Across these comparisons only three pricing shapes appear, and knowing which one you are looking at settles most of the decision. Two tools can have the same headline price and still cost very different amounts at your order volume.

A flat price at any volume

Judge.me charges $15 a month whether the store does 50 orders or 5,000. A flat price is the easiest to budget for, and the hardest for a vendor to raise quietly as you grow into it.

A price that rises with order volume

Yotpo starts at $89 a month for up to 500 orders and rises from there; Loox starts at $49.99 and reaches $299.99. A store doing 1,000 orders a month pays $49.99 on Loox and $0 on Judge.me's free plan.

A one-off payment instead of a subscription

Marmalead sells a $300 licence for lifetime access, which its pricing page describes as about $5 a month over five years. eRank offers no one-off or lifetime option at any tier, so its cost never stops — roughly $1,799 over five years on Expert paying monthly, or about $1,350 paying annually.

FAQ

Ecommerce software comparisons FAQ

Which tools here have a free plan I can actually start?

Of the eight tools tested by opening their signup pages, four can be started with an email address alone — eRank, Omnisend, Yotpo and Mailchimp. One needs a Shopify store before it will show you a form at all (Judge.me). One advertises a free plan whose signup link redirects back to its pricing page (Sale Samurai). Two have no free plan at all (Copy.ai and Jasper).

Are the free plans equivalent?

No, and treating them as equivalent is the most common mistake in this category. Klaviyo, Omnisend and Mailchimp all give 250 contacts and 500 sends a month free, but Mailchimp's free plan excludes marketing automation flows entirely while the other two include them. Judge.me's free plan is uncapped by order volume, while Loox's stops at 500 orders a month.

Is paying annually actually cheaper?

Usually, but the size of the discount varies by tier, so it is worth reading twice. eRank Basic is $5.99 a month or $65.99 a year — about $5.50 a month. eRank Expert is $29.99 a month, or about $1,350 a year against roughly $1,799 paying monthly. Marmalead is $19 a month billed monthly, or $190 a year, about $15.83 a month.

When is a one-off licence better than a subscription?

When you expect to still be using the tool in three or more years. Marmalead's $300 lifetime licence costs more than eRank's first year, but eRank has no one-off option at any tier, so this comparison turns on timescale rather than on features.
